Deep Practice with Dr. Gary

My initial impressions for the weekly meetings (Deep Practice with Dr. Gary Program) was favourable.  I had purchased some of Dr Gary’s other products and felt that he had a deep knowledge that he could communicate.  It’s been a month now and my initial impressions have been confirmed in spades.  I have some background to Wyckoff. I intuitively felt that I had a weakness but could not figure what the weakness until I joined the class: it’s the way I used to do the bar-by-bar analysis. Or rather the way I did not do it. Because my core strength lies in creating robust intermediate to long-term roadmaps, I found that the micro analysis gets overlooked. The weekly sessions with Dr Gary have provided new insight.  I also like the sessions for the new info (at least for me) on Deliberate Practice and Dr Gary’s insights on the psychological side of trading.   Ray Barros, Professional Trader, Fund Manager, Author, and Educator from Hong Kong

My understanding of Wyckoff’s perspective of the market has deepen as compared to where I was before the program.  I used to do visualization with the objective of internalizing trading knowledge and experience from others but I wasn’t able to get the desired results.  I have found that the technique of deep practices has helped me to internalize knowledge and experiences faster.  So far the program has sharpen my observations of demand and supply.  I am paying more attention to all the subtle signals that were discussed in the program.

After doing deep practices everyday and reading as many charts as I can, my reading of supply and demand conditions is getting more accurate.  My accuracy in reading of trading ranges has improved.  I am trading spot forex on an intraday basis.  I was able to pick up the direction of a trade when a currency pair is in its trading range.  This has occurred in numerous occasions and the accuracy is consistent.  For example, before the selloff in NZDUSD due to the earthquake in New Zealand, NZDUSD was trading in a range.  I found that the supply was increasing and demand was decreasing in a slow fashion.  And I decided to take a short on NZDUSD on No Demand bar near the top of the range.  It turned on to be a very profitable trade.  Another profitable trade was made on AUDUSD after the selloff in NZDUSD.  Following the selloff in NZDUSD, AUDUSD was sold down to below par.  I was watching the AUDUSD in its trading range and detected the picking in demand.  So I took a long position on a shakeout and a subsequent trade on a NS bar at the support.  Both were nice and profitable trades.

I recommend this program to any trader because Deep Practice can help one to develop and internalize specialized skills.  It also helps in developing confidence to executing trades.”  Ivan from Singapore

This is a unique study program that is second to none.  I have been trying to do ‘deliberate practice’ by myself, but I was always in doubt about the process since I have never done anything like this before and I have no idea if I was doing it right. I needed a coach for this kind of training and you are now my coach. Now that I understand how to go about the training I will do even more.  I have been good at entries but I have problems at exits, due to not been able to read the market correctly. Now with your coaching I am more confident that I will do better in knowing when weakness is coming in the market or any commodity or stock and then decide to have a better exit.  The training can and will accelerate your success in the market if you know how to read it. For this you need to practice and practice correctly.” Tolis from Colorado

I’m participating in Deep Practice and am really getting a lot out of it — I didn’t realize I was overlooking some important fundamentals. I would never recommend learning to trade alone to anyone; it leaves a lot of holes in the foundation, so it takes a lot longer to build from. I feel coaching/mentoring in some form (like Deep Practice with Dr. Gary program) is invaluable.” Maureen

The bar by bar analysis practice always makes me much sharper when reading charts. What I like about the class structure is it is a system that forces me to allocate time to the practice. There are times when I don’t feel like practicing but because it is scheduled, I do it anyway.  It is like a having a regular time to exercise every day. By having it scheduled, it compels me to do it even when I don’t feel like it.”  Eric from Mclean, Virginia

After I finished the Chart Reading Mastery I feel I need a guidance, coaching and continuous learning program with technical and motivation tools and skills , that could help me to attain my goal of trading for a living.  The program has absolutely help me expand my trading knowledge and skills.  I’ve experienced some setups (springs, UT…) integrated with background that has worked fine and also other times that I was wrong I could see it quicker  and get out of trade.  I like the program because it provides routine tasks, trade management, setup analysis, trading ideas.  I’m convinced it’s a great way of mastering market reading and attain the consistency in trading.”  Lluís Tort from Terrassa (Barcelona)

I joined Dr. Gary’s Deep Practice Program to bring professional technique and structure to my learning. My goal or mission is to be a consistently successfully trader as measured by taking entries and exits in accordance with my trading plan rules and as evidenced by a growing equity curve over time.  Deep Practice with Dr. Gary has benefited my trading through forcing myself to complete many examples of bar by bar annotation for TDDs and days after TDDs.  I find that I have improved my own nightly annotation and more importantly my focus during the day has improved, resulting in an increase in the success rate of observing trades at support or resistance where an obvious signal does not occur (eg UT or Spring) ie getting a feel for the overall picture based on the strength or weakness on individual bars as support and resistance is approached.”  Brendan Smyth from Ireland

Trading Psychology

hi, Dr. Gary… Received my Building Trader Confidence (Overcome Fear) yesterday– listened to the whole thing.  I was amazed when you used the word STUCK in the class.  That is EXACTLY how I have been feeling– Stuck… Then you said– Stuck not Broken– awesome. It is like you were talking to me personally. I hope you don’t mind me sharing my first day of trading since I received your program–
1) I waited for my set up; took about an hour but then I actually took it; did not just watch it go by and wish I had taken it (as usual).  Perfect entry.
2) SUD rating: 8… but, I actually pulled the trigger so I was proud!
3) Then with my mind racing I got out at 1 tick instead of my target and, of course, it went exactly where I thought it would (as usual).
This was the best trade I ever took– why?- I realized that because of my fear I was actually HOLDING MY BREATH though the whole 45 second process, sheesh! No mindfullness, here.  But, now I understand what is going on and I did not call myself an idiot or stupid, etc.
I have such a clear plan of where I am going now. I will stay with the same set up until I can get it to a SUD of 1–3 and actually complete the entire trade according to my plan…  and then I can go to the next phase in my plan.
In the last 4 years of trading I have cried at my computer more than once in frustration. Today, I cry tears of joy and have an additional $6.50 in my account.  Life is good.  Cindy from Arizona

… I have noticed a change in my behavior after attending your lectures in terms of pulling the trigger. I am acting automatically and not worrying about the result. I feel detached and very little stress. I am not sure how this happened but I am happy with the result.  William (Bill) Wermine, Fund Manager and Professional Trader, Malaysia

I purchased your Trading Journal video …  I have already viewed the video twice. It is a brilliant presentation on very important subject. I have learned a lot and enjoyed watching the video thoroughly.  The pdf files in combination with the video really make this product extraordinarily useful. Considering the modest price of this excellent package, the benefits a trader  is most certainly going to derive from it are disproportionately large!! Many thanks for producing this excellent video. It deserves to be viewed by every trader who wants to be consistently successful in his / her trading.  Rama from Oregon

Hi Dr Gary,
I am attending your webinar today and I am interested to get more info about Wyckoff.  Great webinar it helps me clear up a lots of my confusion/questions.
Haris from Australia

Great insight Gary.  Very interesting what you said about focusing on the process VS. the emotion.  I didn’t see it that clearly, but that’s exactly what has been happening, thanks to you guys’ stressing the importance of planning.  By the way, I like how you described it as an emtionally live or die.  Though I’d witnessed it 1000 times, often being a victim to it, I never heard it described in words.  It’s so true, your wording actually cracked me up when I read it.  Ali from NY

The e-course is a great starting point for all types of traders. Its content is focused and it reinforces the most important points that should form the foundation of any trader’s trading framework. Often, traders, particularly the beginners, do not have a framework. Even if they have one, it often does not incorporate the most important points necessary to succeed in long term trading. Even as a trader with experience I find it very helpful to have a “Back to the Basics” exercise, like your e-course. I am looking forward to reading the next installment in the e-course and also receiving the Trading Log that can be used to record the information on individual trades.  Rama from Oregon

Wyckoff Spring Webinar

Wyckoff Spring

It was a truly enjoyable and masterfully informative seminar. My only complaint was that IT WASN’T LONG ENOUGH!!! I have been wandering in the desert of indicator driven technical analysis for a long time. Over every sand dune was another MacD, Stochastic, RSI mirage and at every oasis was a messianic figure preaching false market gospel.  I was already convinced that I could never make indicators work but had no clue about how professional money acted.  I found your style refreshing in that you are sure enough about yourself that you don’t have to dominate or “sell” your info.  Your presentation laid out the case with excellent examples.  I learned so much in this way. This method of breaking out a specific aspect and dissecting it is a great way to learn this material.  Greg Sheldon, Jupiter, Florida

Wyckoff Up Thrust Webinar

Thank Gary again for the wonderful presentation (Wyckoff Up Thrust), beautiful, a profound and wonderful presentation, one that upon first listen, (the live presentation), was amazing and packed with important ideas.  Gary is a Master teacher and a Master at reading the markets.  His heart is compassionate.  His patience is amazing.  These combinations are almost unheard of from those who teach market technique.  But the thing that is most important is that Gary is teaching Wychoff method, a way that I feel is head and shoulders above any conceptualization of market phenomenon out there.  It is about focus and becoming excellent at a thing that is very difficult to master.  Dr. Scott H. Winkler

Well the Doc did it again, great class and addition to a life study in common sense trading. Your classes are always well presented so one can understand and then apply.  Wesley Black, Trader with 9 years of experience, Austin, Texas

Chart Reading Mastery

I have never seen Wycoff explained in such a simple and concise manner. It was a total package: Market understanding, how to read price charts and market structure, momentum, trade setups with simple trade setup sheets.  Anyone who attends your program will have the tools and knowledge to trade profitably. This is a rarity in the trading seminar industry.  William (Bill) Wermine, Fund Manager and Professional Trader, Malaysia

This was a delightful assignment (Chart Reading Mastery) and I have had a wonderful trading day on the EURUSD spot fx doing the assignment while live trading. This is some of the coolest and most encouraging I have ever done. Today I have got the feeling of how powerful your work actually is. With very little stress! I have two times been trying to get into a sell position for a larger down move, but it came up again for break even on both. I don’t mind, because it has given me a great experience with what we learned in previous session. The homework illustration with the trendlines was the actual work behind the first sell position, but as first time and a bit baffled by seeing the result with the work I hesitated on this first one. So the illustrated sell level was not the actual level. The other one went like that. After that I stopped, but see two other opportunities which came later.  I did not do the buy’s, because of the recent larger down move from 1.3855. Thank you big time :)   –Lars

What a beautiful seminar (Chart Reading Mastery).  Among all the wonderful ideas you expressed this weekend, I wanted to mention one in particular that really talked to me. As a practice you mentioned the idea, based on a night time analysis of the ES, to anticipate direction, movement, price levels etc of the market for the following morning. Keep track of your accuracy and work to this direction. What was so amazing about that suggestion was how it relates to what one of my instructors mentioned to me when I was a student in Chiropractic college. He suggested that I run my hand over the body, feel for heat, do my other bits of analysis and then make an educated guess about where the problem in the body was before I confirmed the actual site thru solid physical analysis.  He said this would help me with my intuition. I always still check in with the physical being before I make an adjustment, but I would say overall I am about 85% correct with my intuitive speculation, confirmed by the body. Originally I would say I started with a 5% correct ratio.  I think there are many aspects to trading, intuition being one, and to be given a tool to use to increase the statistical correctness of your intuition…how wonderful. To learn the game, you got to play, but an experienced guide is an invaluable asset.  Dr. Scott H. Winkler

On a scale of 1–10 (10 = great), I rate Dr. Gary’s Eight Weeks to Chart Reading Mastery 10+ because I learned a great deal.  I looked forward to each class.  Learning how to read the market and building a story has fleshed out my methods.  Before I took the class, I was good but inconsistent.  Since Early October (to early December) I’ve had 1 losing trade and 13 winners.  Each trade is an implementation of an edge, rather than a severe emotional attachment.  Jeff Parker, Trader with 23 years of trading experience, North Carolina

On a scale of 1–10, I rated this course 11 because I went into this course with high expectations and all were greatly exceeded.  Wyckoff method was structured and explained in a very understandable manner.  Working through the examples helped insure understanding and reinforced what this approach is all about.  It helped me better understand markets in a major way.  Explaining “Mindfulness” and “Deep Practice” and why they are necessary skills to being consistently successful in trading was a big plus.  Revealing how Deep Practice is done to program this method (or anything else) into your subconscious to the point where you recognize and react to opportunities without hesitation or fear and how Mindfulness is practiced in order to stay focused in the present moment when trading (or anything else) are the missing ingredients for other courses I’ve taken.  This course went the extra mile and was outstanding. Before taking this course I was trying to read price in isolation (without volume).  Now that I know how they work together in the context of market structure, I can view a chart and see more clearly what it’s trying to communicate.  Sometimes the message is evident and other times not, but at least now I can distinguish between signs of opportunity and danger and plan accordingly.  Gary Bradshaw, Trader with 4 years of trading experience, Dallas, Texas

I rated this course 10+++ because it was the most professionally executed trading course I have taken. I looked forward each week to the class and was sad when it was over. Dr. Dayton clearly loves trading and sharing his knowledge of trading and psychology. I will always trade “Mindfully”.  The course has given me a foundation for reading the markets and building a “Wyckoff” story.  I now have Trade Setups in my Trading Plan and if a setup doesn’t fall into my criteria, I will not execute a trade. I also do Deep Practice after the market closes, along with annotating my charts, and I have found this to be extremely beneficial.  I am a beginning trader and I feel that taking this course has given me an edge over traders with more experience. I look at the background and not at the right edge. It’s important to see who’s in control; Buyers or Sellers. This course has taught me that my job as a Trader is not to trade, but finding trades that give me an edge.  Debbie, Beginning Trader, Longwood

Trading is like fishing.  You teach us where and when to look for big fish.  Now I have my trading plan.  I know where and when to put on my trades and the odds are in my favor.  After attending your course, I know I am on the way to be a professional trader.  Thanks for sharing your great trading knowledge.Eric, Trader with 3 years of trading experience, Singapore

On a scale of 1–10 (10 = great), I rate this course 10+.  This course has organized my thought process.  I was all over the board when we started.  Now I have a plan to follow.  I look at the background of the chart and immediately draw lines like I never have before.  I also feel my lines are much more accurate.  Because of this, I am making better decisions about entries and exits.  My confidence is greatly improved.  I feel I have more control over my charts and I am not guessing.  I find myself talking to myself asking who’s in control….buyers or sellers and why.  What is the bar telling us as it relates to previous bars and areas of support and resistance.  I am able to pull the trigger and take the trade.  Even if the trade does not go my way, I know my entry was based off of my trading plan and the percentages are in my favor.  Your professional approach, explanations, and examples made difficult subject matter much easier to understand.  Your answers to all of our questions were always very thorough.  It is very obvious how much you want your students to excel and prosper.  Thanks for taking the time to organize and share your wealth of knowledge.  I would absolutely recommend it highly.  Janet, Trader with 4 years of trading experience, Texas

Your chart reading mastery course is the BEST trading course I ever took and I’ve done quite a few.  Each aspect was thoroughly explained, thoroughly presented in charts and notes. It contained things (many) that I’ve never seen presented anywhere else that help me so much in understanding where supply and demand really are.  Great course.  Larry Walter,  Trader with 10 years of trading experience, Castle Rock, Co.

Your chart reading course is the best education I have ever had with regards to the stock market.  I have learned to identify the trade set-ups and more importantly, the reason for the trade. When I make a mistake, I can now pinpoint the reason for my mistake and that way, avoid them in the future.  Your teaching was very helpful to me —  you did not rush, you took the time to explain the methodology and reasons behind the behavior of the chart patterns. Your feedback on my homework helped me understand better the things that were unclear to me. I still have a long way to go, but at least I can now read the charts and with time and practice, I know I will become an excellent trader — thanks to you! I found myself always excited about what I learned that I looked forward impatiently to the next class.  Therese Kamm, Trader with 7 years of trading experience, Guam
